Thaba-Tseka, July 29 — St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) has illuminated faith amongst congregants following refurbishment and official handover by the Prime Minister (PM), Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane four months ago.
The physical structure is reported to have encouraged congregants to brave chilly weather conditions throughout this winter, with numbers of those worshiping every Sunday having increased to over 100.
“Unlike in previous winter seasons when numbers would reduce to about 50 as a result of unfriendly weather and structure that was not in good state, people have remained consistent and keep coming to mass service as the modern structure also has ability to keep warmth,” Secretary General at the Mission, Mrs. ‘Mantoetsi Khoeli told the Agency in an interview on Wednesday.
Mrs. Khoeli who is also a villager at Ha Toka stated that even though the word Church goes beyond building but they are appreciative of the structure that has given them more zeal for God and of course enhanced their faith.
In addition, she stipulated that different missions and parishes have also shown keen interest to hold their meetings there, making an example with Auray Parish.
Meanwhile, other developments happening at the mission include the ongoing construction of St. Mary’s Statue, which is being done through support of donor and member of RCM, Mr. Matekane.
She said other upcoming festivities at St. Lawrence include August 15, which shall be the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven, body and soul at the end of her earthly life.
“This magnificent gathering shall see the diocese of Maseru Bana ba Maria joining their counterpart in Thaba-Tseka to celebrate together.”
Over and above that, he alluded that there are also other lined up activities until December including ‘Kemolo e Senang Sekoli ea Maria,’ that is Maseru diocese will also visit St. Lawrence later on during the year.
In all these upcoming activities, the Secretary anticipated that the PM (68) who is also a member of Parliament for Mants’onyane Constituency Number 72 will join them as he is always with them on Sundays for mass service.
Villages making up this mission include Ha Toka, Ha Ntsokoane, Ha Letuka and Ha Mokotane to mention but a few.
