Maseru, Oct. 10 — Following delay in payments of some old age pensioners for the month of October, the Minister of Gender, Youth and social Development Mr. Pitso Lesaoana has assured that beneficiaries will be paid at dates yet to be announced.
In his statement, Mr. Lesaoana indicated that beneficiaries affected are those who were supposed to be paid on Thursday , clarifying that the Ministry will make an announcement regarding dates in which they will be paid.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by delay in payments” he added.
The Public Relations Officer in the Ministry Mrs. Mpho Makhetha told the Agency in an interview that elderly people who were affected by delay are those based in the districts of Thaba-Tseka, Maseru and Leribe.
She further indicated that 85 percent of old age pensioners are paid digitally through Mpesa and Eco-Cash, saying preparations are at an advanced stage for those who want to receive their money through banks…
