ACCUSED TO KNOW FATE

Maseru, Sept. 09 — Some members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) who are charged with the murder of three men, which occurred at Mafeteng in 2012, will on September 23 know if they have a case to answer or whether the prosecution has failed to establish one against them.

The court is on that day expected to deliver its judgment on an application for discharge which was moved by the accused  pursuant to section 175 of Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act after the prosecution closed its case.

Delivery of the  judgment was initially scheduled for August 11 2025 but could not go ahead as the judgment was not yet ready.

A judge presiding over the matter, Justice Polo Banyane stated that a transcribed record of proceedings needed for preparation of the judgment was not ready.
