BOTSWANA PRESIDENT TOURS TIKOE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE

MASERU — The sixth Botswana President, Advocate Duma Gideon Boko aged 56, who is  in Lesotho on official working visit toured Tikoe Industrial Estate on Wednesday.

Upon arrival at the Estate, Afri-Expo Textile, producers of denim, the President was welcomed by the Minister of Trade, Mr. Mokhethi Shelile along with other officials.

The Minister expressed appreciation over the visit, indicating over 12 000 jobs in the textile industry are at stake due to US tariffs and sanctions. “Your presence in the Mountain Kingdom brings us hope.”

Similarly, the Managing Director Afri-Expo Textile, Mr. Teboho Kobeli whose factory has employed over 500 staff, while 200 are on short time due to no placement of orders indicated it takes strong partnerships between government’s and private sector to create employment and build economy.

Meanwhile, the President who also toured a vehicle cover seats factory known as ADIENT, assured Lesotho support, indicating as Africa they should stand in solidarity for growth of their economies hence the visit.

He stipulated his presence in Lesotho seeks to cultivate areas of collaborations, saying as Africans they should not fear competition but build spirit of unity and resilience.
