Maseru, Oct.30—- Advocate Letuka Molati, one of the defence lawyers in an ongoing bombings trial before the High Court says a case involving the murder of the late Lieutenant General Khoantle Mots’omots’o was drummed-up.
This, he said during cross-examination of Former Commissioner of Police (COMPOL) Dr. Khothatso Tsóoana.
He stated that the only person charged with the murder of Motsómots’o was Major Ramoepana. He said the case was however withdrawn when the court was about to receive evidence. He said that was done as the prosecution had nothing against him adding that it was a drummed-up case.
“Three officers were charged before the court martial, but the charges were withdrawn midstream the case because it was a drummed-up case”, said Adv. Molati.
He pointed out that the deaths of Motsomotso, Tefo Hashatsi and Bulane Sechele were not investigated. He added that there were no inquest proceedings in respect of their deaths.
The accused in the matter are Former Army Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli, Pitso Ramoepane, Litekanyo Nyakane, Mohlalefi Seitlheko and Heqoa Malefane. The charges they are facing comprise attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
The offences are alleged to have occurred at the home of Liabiloe Ramoholi now ‘Maesiah Thabane at Moshoeshoe II as well as the home of Tsóoana at Ha Abia in January 2014.
