Maseru, Jan.28—As part of efforts to help institutions of higher learning to share ideas and showcase their programmes, Council on Higher Education (CHE) has organized its eleventh edition of education fair which will run from February 05 to 06 at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre.
CHE Chief Executive Dr. Moeketsi Letele disclosed this during a media briefing on Wednesday where the fair is free for all institutions of higher learning and students aspiring to pursue their education to showcase their programmes under one roof.
He said exhibitions by higher learning institutions will run parallel with career guidance for students preparing to go to tertiary and current Grade 11s saying this will give them opportunity to choose courses that are responsive to societal needs.
He said on February 05, the fair will host all schools from the Southern region while on the 06 it will be schools from northern region saying schools from central region can participate in any of the two days.
He said institutions to participate in fair include National University of Lesotho (NUL), Botho University, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), Lesotho College of Education (LCE), Lerotholi Polytechnic (LP), National Health Training Centre (NHTC), Scott College of Nursing, Roma College of Nursing, Maluti Adventist College of Nursing, Paray College of Nursing, Institute of Development Management (IDM), Boston Health and Lesotho China Collegiate.
He added that they have also invited universities from South Africa and Botswana due to influx of Basotho enrolling in such universities saying this is to expand and provide exposure in case they want to study beyond Lesotho.
Moreover, Dr. Letete indicated that to provide more exposure, students who wish to enrol in health professional, they will be provided a tour of Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital while those to enrol in geology will get a chance to tour Lets’eng Diamond Mine.
He added that experts in different fields will deliver presentations while financiers such as NMDS, U.S Embassy, Econet Higher Life, Vodacom Foundation and Lets’eng will be there to provide details on how students can access funding.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Training Professor Ntoi Rapapa will be guest speaker at the event.
CHE is a statutory corporate body established by section 4 of the Higher Education Act of 2004. It promotes inclusive participation, innovation and lifelong learning through quality assurance in higher education and global recognition of Lesotho qualifications.
