Shanghai, Nov 05 — Attracting over 4000 investors across the globe and members of the least developed countries, the 8th China International Imports Expo (CIIE) 25 has finally rolled into motion in Shanghai, China.
The five days event scheduled to end on Monday next week, has gathered together exhibitors in different sections including food and agricultural products, medical equipment and health care products, auto mobile and smart mobility, intelligent industry and information technology and others.
During his inaugural speech of the event, China Premier Li Qiang remarked that the CIIE is the mouthpiece of the world’s economy and also an important bridge linking China to the rest of the world, citing that number of the participating enterprises have reached a record high burgeoning vitality of China’s huge market.
Mr. Li stressed that CIIE is more significant because it serves the world’s interests, however he highlighted that there are some unilateral and protectionist actions in the international community which are seriously affecting the international economy and trade order, and thus disrupting the functioning of the world economy.
China Premier further highlighted that the world needs to uphold equality and mutual benefit and solidify the legitimate basis of the common interest.

“The more the world slows down and the international disputes intensify, the more we must uphold equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, embrace free trade and promote the resolution of conflicts and joint development”, he explained.
Additionally, he emphasized the need to uphold morality and earnest safeguard of international fairness and justice, citing that today’s world destinies of all countries are closely linked and should balance our interest, work together and help each other.
Mr. Li pointed out that China is willing to work together with all parties to actively promote the implementation of global governance Initiative and the international economic and trade sector and reforms and improve the multi trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
On the same occasion, among the several international delegates and heads of international organizations who attended the event includes Ethiopia Advisor of State Minister of Trade Integration and Export Promotion Sector Mr. Clement Tsegaw Belete said the China through its CIIE has opened avenues of opportunities for all global countries to improve their economies.

Mr. Belete highlighted that most African countries supply raw materials or organic products to China, and as a result having participated in such economic forums serves as a right platform where they attract such foreign investors to Africa for inclusive growth and skills transfers.
He added that Ethiopia is regarded as a horn of Africa and it has positioned itself at the strategic location which links most African countries to the entire world, therefore he said potentially African countries unite and introduce and export their products to the world.
Among the exhibitors was Shanghai Yue Yang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) represented by Mr. Huang Jimmy who said regardless of the evolution in medical sector, they saw a need to grace the significance of participating at the CIIE to showcase and raise awareness about the importance of traditional medicine as compared to the western medicine in our daily lives.
Mr. Huang highlighted that many countries are abandoning their traditional medicine for no reasons, therefore with such expos they are using it to share skills and knowledge and to navigate areas of future cooperation in health care services.
Meanwhile the reports indicate that 4108 global companies coming from 155 countries have graced the event at an exhibition area covering 430, 000 square meters.
