Thaba Tseka, March 15 — Christians from different denominations showed up at the Prime Minister’s 68th birthday whose climax will be handing over of the new St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) later on (Sunday).
The event started with a music festival on Saturday night with various christians across the country having attested to the importance of coming together for worship putting aside church doctrines, beliefs and norms.
From RCC, LECSA, Anglicans including Apostolic Churches came to bear witness to God’s doings upon his people.
One of the youth, Phole Koteli (25) of St. Paul Apostolic Church who is also part of the church’s brass band known as ‘Mahlaseli’ noted events such as this provides them an opportunity to celebrate, establish job opportunities at this time when unemployment has crippled the youth.
“We are happy to be part of this big event that will also celebrate the PM, Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane and his efforts in building Lesotho and the church of Jesus Christ,” he noted.
In the same note, LECSA member from Ha Moriana Lets’aneng, Mrs. ‘Manapo Makhetha (61) indicated that she walked approximately five hours from her place to St. Lawrence just to be part of this big celebration.
“I strongly believe that if we can come together as the nation, pray together and celebrate achievements, we will guard the country’s peace,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Phamola Nts’ekhe (82) all the way from Leribe and a relative to the PM said he has always known Mr. Matekane as a humble soul, thus is here along with his brother to bear testimony and bless their son for the wonderful work of serving his community and the country at large.
Events for today will include church service and official hand over of the building. It will commence with a walk from Ha Toka to St. Lawrence for the main event.
Mr. Matekane has since been known a business mogul across the globe before joining politics in 2022 as a leader of the ruling RFP since then to-date.
