DR. MOSISILI ARRIVES IN SEYCHELLES

Maseru, Sep. 24— Former Prime Minister (PM) of Lesotho, Dr. Pakalitha Mosisili,, as the Head of the African Union (AU) Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (AU-COMESA) election observer mission has arrived in Seychelles.

Dr. Mosisili was appointed to head the observer mission for the Seychelles general elections and left the country this week.

The former PM arrived in Seychelles on Tuesday ahead of the General Assembly elections scheduled for September 27, with at least eight candidates contesting for the presidential seat.

Seychelles presidential elections use the second round-system, and if no candidate receives a majority of the vote in the first round, a second round is held between the top two candidates.

Members of the National Assembly are elected by two methods. 26 are elected from single-member constituencies using first past the post voting and up to a further ten are elected based on the percentage of votes received by each party, for each 10 percent of the total national vote received a party gets one additional seat…
