ECONET ALLAYS CUSTOMER’S FEARS REGARDING THEIR MONEY

Maseru, Oct. 24 — Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has reassured its customers that their money remains safe amid concerns raised during the company’s transition from an analogue to a digital system.

At a press conference held in Maseru on Thursday, Chief Technology Officer Mr. Malefetsane Tlelima explained that the system migration aims to enhance the Ecocash platform, particularly its security features, to guard against potential cyberattacks.

Mr. Tlelima acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the migration, which saw over 10,000 customers experiencing unauthorised deductions from their Ecocash accounts. He assured the public that all affected funds have been fully refunded.

He also emphasized that the new system includes improved features, advising customers not to panic if they notice changes. However, he encouraged clients to report any confusion or issues they may encounter.
