FARMING INPUTS SHORTAGE REMAINS CHALLENGE- MASUPHA

Maseru, Oct. 30 — Fertilizer procurement is at an advanced stage and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition will make an announcement once it is available.

This was said by the Ministry’s Chief Information Officer Mr. Lereko Masupha in an interview with the Agency.

Mr. Masopha also revealed that there is shortage of some seeds based on grades, advising farmers to buy available ones as November is the last month of summer cropping in the lowlands and mountain valleys.

He further said demand for farming inputs remains high and forces the Ministry to distribute the inputs at resource centres regularly, appealing to farmers to register their names and required quantities at resource centres to make it easy for the Ministry to deliver at once on specified dates.

“Farmers have a tendency of buying in batches and make it difficult for the Ministry to deliver required quantities” he said…
