KATSE TOURISM FESTIVAL BOOSTS LOCAL INCOME, PROMOTES HEALTHY LIVING

LERIBE – The much anticipated Katse Dam Tourism Festival has turned not only into a celebration platform but also into an opportunity for income generation and the promotion of good health.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency, a community member, Mr. Malefetsane Mohoanyane said that the festival has brought positive change to the lives of people living around the Katse Dam.

He noted that local vendors, artists and small business owners are now able to sell food, crafts and other products to visitors attending the festival, boosting household incomes.

“Events like this help us put food on the table. We are able to showcase our culture, sell our products and interact with people from different places,” he said.

Mr. Mohanyane further highlighted that the festival also promotes healthy living through various sporting activities, including fun walks and other outdoor recreational events that encourage physical fitness.

He added that the gathering strengthens community bonds and provides a safe space for young people to engage in positive activities, helping to reduce social challenges.

The Katse Dam Tourism Festival continues to attract both local and international visitors, positioning Leribe as a key tourism destination in Lesotho while uplifting surrounding communities economically and socially.
