Maseru, Jan.23 — The Law Society of Lesotho has filed an application before the High Court of Lesotho challenging appointment of the Director General of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) Mr. Knorx Molelle.
They have in the application asked the court to declare the appointment of Mr. Molelele as unlawful, null and void ab initio and of no legal force and effect. They also asked the court to declare that Mr. Molelle is not entitled to any contractual benefits or any terminal benefits pursuant to his appointment as the Director General of DCEO.
In an affidavit by the President of the Law Society of Lesotho Advocate Lintle Tuke, it is stated that it is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to appoint the Director General subject to the provisions of section 4 (1) and (4) of the Prevention of Corruption and Economic Offences Act 1999 as amended by Act no.8 of 2006. . .
