Quthing, Oct. 10 — More than fifty (50) ventilated improved pit (VIP) toilets have been completed as part of the ongoing latrine construction project in the Lefikeng electoral division, expected to be completed during the course of this month.
Funded by World Vision Lesotho through the Mokotjomela Area Programme (AP), the project started in May this year with the goal of constructing VIP toilets for 56 vulnerable households to promote a healthy environment.
In an interview with the Agency, Lefikeng Community Councilor Mr. Lehlohonolo Sodinga stated that beneficiaries will begin using the toilets following the official handover ceremony, which will take place upon project completion.
Mr. Sodinga emphasized that the initiative will significantly improve the quality of life for families by reducing exposure to health hazards and encouraging safe hygiene practices.
He said to foster community ownership and reduce dependency, beneficiaries contributed to the project by providing locally available resources. These included digging toilet pits and collecting building materials such as sandstone, stones, and bricks…
