Maseru, Oct. 11 — The commemoration of World Post Day has created an opportunity for Lesotho Postal Services to reflect on its achievements since its establishment in 1933.
This was said by the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Mrs Nthati Moorosi in commemoration of World Post Day, whose theme was “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations”.
She highlighted that Lesotho Postal Services, which was previously called Basutholand Post and Telecommunications and later named Lesotho Telecommunications, used to send and receive letters and parcels as well as to receive money telephonically.
She indicated that its services were extended in 2004 as it saw the establishment of Lesotho Post Bank and introduction of electronic money transfer in 2007, saying it is in the process of extending this service to all Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states.
