Maseru, July.13 — The Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane has declared a national food insecurity disaster which the country is currently faced with.
The Prime Minister declared in his official speech at the national television that this low yield contributing to the state of hunger is due to the El-nino that hit the country this year.
He indicated that according to the Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment, there are about 700 000 Basotho who are reported to be food vulnerable showing that this number has increased as it previously stood at 582 000 in the assessment made for 2023/2024. . .
