LESOTHO, USA SIGN HEALTH COOPERATION MoU

Maseru, Dec. 11 — The United States (USA) and the government of Lesotho on Wednesday signed the bilateral health cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU was signed by Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane and the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Tom Hines in presence of Minister of Health Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane and other officials in Maseru.

According to the statement, the five-year arrangement includes $364 million (M6,176,388,400) in planned investment and outlines a comprehensive vision to save lives, strengthen Lesotho’s health system, and make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. 

It states  that over the last few years, Lesotho has made significant progress addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic and strengthening its own healthcare system and institutions. In particular, Lesotho surpassed the 95-95-95 goals for epidemic control of HIV/AIDS, reaching 97-97-99.
