Maseru, Feb. 18 — Lesotho’s national flag has become a symbol of pride for Basotho, showcasing local heritage on global platforms.
Mr. Thapelo Molahlehi, a shoe designer from Borokhoaneng, Maseru mentioned that he has found success with the unique brand of shoes featuring the Lesotho national flag.
He added that he started the national flag shoe brand after realizing that his business was struggling, where he initially targeted tourists, Basotho abroad and attendees of cultural events.
He noted that his products allowed customers to proudly showcase their heritage, indicating that with his business he managed to purchase two cars, a site and built a house.
Mr. Molahlehi emphasised that with his 10 years of experience in shoe design, his entrepreneurial journey faced a lot of challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, after COVID-19, Mr. Molahlehi added that he faced challenges including social media competition, loss of customers and struggling to get quality material in Lesotho, often requiring costly trips to South Africa to purchase the material he needs.
He advised upcoming entrepreneurs to start businesses driven by passion, helping them overcome challenges.
Lesotho’s national flag shoes have not only showcased local heritage globally but also created a path of pride and entrepreneurial success for Basotho.
