MINISTER LEADS BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

MASERU – The Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Ms. Nthati Moorosi will lead Ministry’s staff at back to school activity in Mohale’s Hoek on January 26.

The activity to be staged at Holy Cross high school will also attract the presence of MICSTI stakeholders amongst others, Private Secretary to the Minister, Ms. Lieketseng Lelosa has said.

She explained that all staff members are urged to attend this social responsibility activity aimed at motivating learners and teachers by giving them awards, stationery as well as motivational talks.

Ms. Lelosa added that the climax of the event will be handing over the computer laboratory to the school. Furthermore, she said best performing learners including teachers  will also be presented with gifts as a way of motivation.

Meanwhile, it is anticipated that different Ministries, schools and other entities will engage on a similar activity on this day as such has been the call by Education and Training Minister, Professor Ntoi Rapapa who recently called for support, especially for Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and post primary.

The Ministry of Education and Training initiated the Back-to-School program in January 2023 to encourage all sectors of society to contribute to quality education in Lesotho as well as to support attainment of universal education as covered under Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) otherwise Agenda 2030.

In line with quality and accessible education for all, the African Union (AU) launched  AU Decade of Education 2026-2035, thus the year  2026 mark commencement of the   strategy focusing on  radical education transformation by amongst others elevating teaching profession and aligning education in terms of digital technologies through inclusivity, quality and of course relevant education today’s dynamic world.
