Mokhotlong, Nov.12 — The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development is in the process of updating its National Information System for Social Assistance (NISSA) data.
A Community Mobilisation Facilitator Mr. Kefiloe Sentje from Social Development Department in Maseru said this in his presentation to Head of Departments (HODs) meeting held in Mokhotlong on Wednesday.
Mr. Sentje said the information in the system is out-dated as it was collected in 2017 hence the need to be updated to allow the Ministry to have accurate information as possible.
He explained that for data collection, the Ministry has engaged a consultant namely, Translantic Development Limited (TDL), which is an international company but registered in Lesotho adding that the exercise is expected to be carried out between December this year and March 2026.
He mentioned that the Ministry has been supported by World Bank in eight districts including Mokhotlong that data collection will be conducted adding that in Mokhotlong collection will be done in two Community Councils of Seate and Mphokojoane only.
Asked why only two Community Councils will be covered in the district, Mr. Sentje clarified that, they have been selected because there are some of the Councils where NISSA started and because of the economic programmes being implemented in such Councils. . .
