QACHA’S NEK TO HOST AGRICULTURAL DIALOGUE TO COMBAT MALNUTRITION, ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 19 — In a concerted effort to improve the district’s nutritional status and ensure food security for every household, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition (MAFSN) will convene an agricultural dialogue with relevant stakeholders on August 21.

Speaking to the Agency, MAFSN Nutrition Officer (DNO) Mrs. Lebohang Monyamane-Nthake stated that the discussion aligns with the district’s efforts to address malnutrition and boost food production. “We are grappling with malnutrition due to low food production. Our goal is to create a malnutrition-free district by promoting good nutrition and home economics practices, thereby improving the nutritional status of vulnerable groups throughout the life cycle,” she said.

Mrs. Monyamane-Nthake added that through this dialogue, stakeholders will pledge their support to fully tackle this challenge. “We are working hard but struggling to cover the entire district due to challenges such as being understaffed, limited resources, particularly transportation, and the district’s difficult terrain.” . . .
