Oct.07—The second session of the Court of Appeal is scheduled to commence on October 07 2025 with a total of 50 cases, both civil and criminal, registered for hearing.
Among the cases that made it to the roll and are expected to be heard by the Court are those between Lephuthela Ntsie and Rex, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Jobere Kelane, Thabiso Lekitla (a Member of Parliament for Mekaling) and Rex, DPP (Adv. Hlalefang Motinyane) and the Prime Minister as well as ‘Mamarame Matela (Former Executive Officer LCA) and Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA), to mention but a few.
Ntsie who is now appealing against a decision by the High Court was in 2012 convicted on two counts of murder in absentia after he disappeared while the court had taken a lunch break in the middle of delivery of the judgment. He was found guilty of killing Habaka Mahao and Souru Masupha during an incident that occurred at Khorong Ha Tsosane in 2004.
He was extradited from South Africa in March 2022, after which he was sentenced to concurrent 20- and 21-years imprisonment for the two murders…
