STANDARD LESOTHO BANK CAREER EXPO FUELS TOMORROW’S LEADERS

Maseru — Standard Lesotho Bank hosted its 16th Annual Career Expo at the ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre, empowering young people as they prepare to choose their career paths and transition into tertiary education.

Speaking at the event, Standard Lesotho Bank Marketing Manager, Ms Lintle Monare, encouraged students to work hard and remain focused on their goals despite challenges they may face at home or in their studies. She advised learners to surround themselves with driven and successful individuals and to always remember the purpose of their education in order to achieve success.

Acting Director of the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS), Mr Thabo Ntoi, said the institution provides loans to Basotho students to pursue higher education locally and internationally, with a 50 percent repayment requirement after completion of studies. He urged students to consider pursuing science and mathematics-related fields, stressing the need to create employment opportunities and reduce the country’s unemployment rate.

Mr Ntoi further encouraged learners to work hard to increase their chances of securing sponsorships, noting that NMDS currently sponsors students in countries such as China, Cuba, India and South Africa.

Also addressing students, Mr Moloi Mokete, an electronic engineer at the Lesotho Communications Authority, advised them to strive for academic excellence to create opportunities for themselves. He highlighted the importance of preparing for examinations in advance, particularly in mathematics, which he said requires accuracy and consistent practice.

Mr Mokete added that selecting dedicated study hours before classes begin is a helpful strategy and encouraged students to work diligently to pursue courses they will not regret in the future.

The Standard Lesotho Bank Career Expo provided learners with valuable guidance and motivation, equipping them to make informed decisions about their future and inspiring them to become tomorrow’s leaders.
