Berea, Dec 18 — In response to the disaster of blown away roofing and houses in Berea in 2023 and 2024 respectively, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Limpho Tau has on Wednesday handed over house keys to 13 windstorm victims from different parts of Berea district during the event staged at Ha-Raphoolo.
In his remarks, the Minister Tau said due to the continuing change in climate for various reasons, Lesotho is no exception as the houses he handed over were constructed following changes in weather patterns which triggered heavy rains, drought, floods and windstorms which badly affected people’s houses.
He said the government through the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) is mandated to mitigate and respond in case of disasters and help communities to build resilience hence the gesture. . . .
