Maseru,Jan. 14 — The public transport owners have revealed that they will not be attending a press conference that is organised by the ministry of public works and transport which is scheduled for Monday (tomorrow).
This comes after the ministry has announced that it will hold a press conference which ita agenda is to give a highlight into the newly implemented operation of meter taxis(4+1).
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Sunday, the Maseru Region Transport Operators (MRTO) Public Relations officer Mr. Lebohang Moea said that they will not be attending the presser as there has not been any agreement which has been reached between the government and the taxi operators.
He showed that there are a number of complaints that they have tabled before the ministry which they had hoped would have been addressed up to date.
Mr. Moea mentioned that they are baffled by the decision of the ministry as there is no agreement that haa been reached by the two parties which call for the announcement of 4+1 operations.
The increment of taxi fares and charges of some services imposed on taxi operators by the traffic department have for the longest time been pressing issues that the government and operators have struggled to address.
