VENDORS TO CONTINUE OPERATIONS

MASERU — Roma Street vendors will continue with their operations.

This is after the High court granted them the interim order following their application in which they wanted the court to stop Roads Directorate from removing them or demolishing their structures.

The vendors operating from Ha-Scout to Selakheng along the National University of Lesotho (NUL) fence were supposed to have moved their structures by Wednesday this week to make way for the ongoing A5 road rehabilitation from St. Michael’s to Roma.

The Applicants in the matter 1st to 3rd are Roma Street Vendors Association, Container Mafoso General Cafe and OB Joint (Pty) LTD. While the Respondents 1st to 6th are Secretary of Manonyane A04 Community Council, Manonyane A04 Community Council, Maseru City Council, Roads Directorate, Ministry of Local Government and Attorney General.

In their plea, the applicants want the decision by 2nd Respondent directing them to demolish their business structures and vacate their current location shall not be staged pending determination of this application. Again that the Respondents shall not be interdicted and restrained from forcefully removing the Applicants from their areas of operation pending final determination of this application.
