WASCO CONTINUES TO DISCONNECT OWING CUSTOMERS

Maseru, Jan. 12 — Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) is continuing to disconnect customers with outstanding bills in a bid to ensure effective service delivery.

This was said by WASCO Acting Public Relations Manager Mr. Rethabile Lefatsatsa in an interview with the Agency, saying the disconnections resumed in Maseru earlier this month and will later be extended to other areas.

“We are disconnecting all owing customers, whether churches, individuals, organisations or government entities” he stressed, indicating that such customers are expected to pay or contact WASCO credit section to negotiate a plan for settling their debts.

He indicated that failure for customers to pay bills affects the company’s operations as it fails to buy and repair equipment due to financial constraints thus being unable to complete work on time.

He therefore appealed to owing customers to pay the bills, reminding that those who have been disconnected will have to pay the reconnection fee.

WASCO has over 92 000 customers which is 60 percent of the total urban population. The safe drinking water is supplied through postpaid, pre-paid and public standpipe connections.

WASCO was established with the objective to produce and distribute potable water and provide sanitation services to valued customers in an environmentally friendly manner.
