WATER TREATY GETS REVIEWED

Maseru, Feb.24—The government of Lesotho says it is going to undertake reviewing of the long overdue Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) treaty.

The 1986 Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) Treaty undergoes a review every 12 years and 2023 marks the halfway point and time for the treaty’s review.

In her budget presentation Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane said  they will undertake the review with the goal of negotiating a better deal for Lesotho in terms of the project’s sustainability and its positive impact on the livelihoods of Basotho…
