CASE TO BE HEARD ON URGENT BASIS 

Maseru, July 27 — The Court through Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane has on Thursday ruled that a constitutional case challenging fitness of the commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to hold office, is urgent therefore will be heard on urgent basis. 

The ruling was made after the court was addressed on urgency by legal representatives for parties involved in the matter. 

The applicants in this case are five political parties comprising Basotho Action Party (BAP), Democratic Congress (DC), All Basotho Convention (ABC), Basotho National Party  (BNP) and Popular Front for Democracy (PFD). The respondents include the Council of State, His Majesty the King, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the IEC, Speaker of the National Assembly, President of the Senate and the Attorney General.
