GOVT TO FORM COMMISSION OF INQUIRY-RAMOELETSI

Maseru, Dec 29 — Minister of Justice and Law Mr. Richards Ramoeletsi says the Government of Lesotho will establish a commission of inquiry that will investigate the incidents that occurred at the Central Correctional Institution that led to the escape of six inmates on December 21.

In his statement he made on state owned Lesotho Television (LTV) on Thursday night, Mr. Ramoeletsi said the recommendations of such a commission will be published to the general public and that the Government will implement them in order to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

The Minister said as the government they condemn these incidents.

“These incidents occurred when the Government commemorated International Human Rights Day on December 10, in which the world is condemning any form of violence,” he underscored.

He said the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) has been duly informed about these incidents and that investigations are on-going. . .
