MALAKANE CRIES FOUL OVER TEXTILE INDUSTRY JOB LOSSES

Maseru, July 26 – A Member of Parliament (MP) representing All Basotho Convention (ABC) on Proportional Representation (PR) has appealed to the members to urge the Government of Lesotho to implement mitigating measures in relation to the loss of jobs that is taking place in factories in the country.

Speaking over her motion in the National Assembly on Friday, Mrs ‘Maleleka Malakane said this perpetuates the already high unemployment rate and abject poverty among Basotho.

Mrs Malakane said according to the Department of Statistics, there were over 40 000 Basotho employed in the textile industry in 2022…
