Maseru, Apr. 18 — As winter season has started, Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) has called on members of the public to donate blood because the blood bank has begun to run dry.
The call was made by LBTS Principal Laboratory Technologist Mr. Khotso Kalake in an interview with the Agency, saying they have realised that most people are reluctant to donate blood in winter due to cold weather conditions.
He indicated that all groups of blood are needed in the blood bank because the blood that was collected during easter holidays has run out.
“There is currently no blood in the blood bank as the blood that was collected was distributed to hospitals during Easter” he said, indicating that only three hospitals which include Makoanyane, Paray and Mafeteng returned the remaining blood to LBTS.
