Maseru,Jan.08 –The establishment of the Ha Ramarothole solar plant is reported to be one of the measures which the government of Lesotho is engaging in as to ensure for the security supply of electricity that it had been faced with in the previous times.
This was revealed in the annual report by the Lesotho Water and Electricity Authority (LEWA) for 2022/2023.
In this report, LEWA reports that security of supply was compromised by a breakdown of one of the generating units at ‘Muela Hydropower Plant (MHP) resulting in reduced electricity generation. This led to the increased bulk supply costs as a result of more imports from South Africa and Mozambique. . .
