MICSTI, LCA AIMS AT IMPROVING MEDIA SKILLS

Maseru, April. 04 — At least 106 media practitioners are expected to enroll in a six months training as facilitated by the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA).

This was said by the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Ms Nthati Moorosi during reporting and reflecting on the Government’s 100 days in office.

Ms. Moorosi indicated that in efforts to give the nation a platform to access speedy services in terms of emergences, the ministry through Radio Lesotho and Ultimate Radio  will  launch a toll free number.

She said  also as a way of improving communication throughout the country, the ministry though the Universal service fund is expected to construct 3 cell phone towers  in the areas of Ketane, Bobatsi and Matlakeng.

She added that these towers are adding to the existing 11 towers that have been  constructed and the 16 which are under construction.

Meanwhile, Ms Moorosi mentioned that the ministry is in efforts of installing free Wi-Fi in tertiary institutions showing that they have  installed at St. Elizabeth Training Institute and are planning to extend to the National University of Lesotho, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology as well as in other tertiary institutions.

The training is mentioned to be an instrument which is going to be used to create all forms of professionalism in media practitioners while also enhancing their skills and knowledge in the media fraternity.
