TAXI OWNERS COMPLAIN ON PERMITS

Botha-Bothe, July 24 — Taxi owners in Botha-Bothe are complaining of permits for different routes that they are applying for from the road transport board.

The taxi operators and transport owners are complaining that even though the board has come to announce the applications for the permits, it will not be surprising if of over a 100 applications only a few will get permits. They are saying that there are many routes which need more taxis but they already know that the board might not give them permits for that.

They believe there is a lot of corruption that happens in the board whereby other people only get permits on condition that they know someone on the board. They believe that fairness does not apply in the board as some people spend years applying for permits but some just apply only once and get the permits.
