TEACHERS’ HEAD COUNT ONGOING

Thaba Tseka Apr 05 — The Teacher’s head count which commenced last week Monday will help provide the Ministry with the correct numbers of Teachers in the district.

This was stated in an interview with the Agency by the District Education Manager Mr. Mopenyaki Maichu on Wednesday.

According to Mr. Maichu, the other purpose of the headcount is to have the exact number of Teachers to make budgeting easy.

He continued to state that it will also help root out the ghosts and help identify schools in which Teachers have deserted making it hard for the government to create posts where needed.

Furthermore, he indicated that it is going to help them file the correct statistics of Teachers in each school.

Mr. Maichu said when they arrive at school, they expect Teachers to produce their National Identity and educational qualifications from when they began school to the recent they have.

He added that those whose names on the ID differ from the educational certificates are requested to produce marriage certificates or gazettes.

Reports indicate that in the hard-to-reach areas, most schools are a one Teacher school while some have teachers who have only completed their Form E and Form C.

Thaba Tseka is reported to have about 900 Teachers, with 145 primary schools and 20 high schools.

The head count is scheduled to complete by the end of this month.
