Quthing, April 28 — The Quthing Department of Health will be engaged in a one-week integrated health service delivery district activity at different hard to reach areas starting at Ha Potso in Mphaki clinic health service area from Monday.
The integrated health service delivery is a programme launched by the Minister of Health Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane to ensure that communities from rural areas access a one-stop shop model that combines multiple health service providers in a single location to deliver different health services to rural families.
In an interview with the Agency, the District Medical Officer (DMO) from Department of health Dr. Mpeile Mokhohlane said the aim of Integrated Health Services programme is to prevent illnesses other than curing, adding that an integrated way of providing health services is crucial as some diseases can be detected at an early stage.
She stated that services to be provided at the activity included, TB screening and X-ray, cervical and prostate cancer screening, dental services that will include teeth extraction and filling, provision of health education by different divisions and doctor consultations and provision of prescribed dedication at the pharmacy located at the same spot.
She said the integrated health service delivery district activity will continue in different areas that include Ha Kelebone, Khakeng, Ha Mafura, Bolahla and Ts’epong.
On the other hand Dr. Mokhohlane pointed out that Africa Vaccination Week will also be marked at Ha Potso as part of integrated health service delivery district activity and called to the targeted various public groups to get their vaccines at the same event.
She further said that public groups to get vaccines during Africa Vaccination Week include children aged under five who will receive their routine vaccines, vitamin A and albendazole included, those aged six to nine will receive tetanus vaccine and girls aged nine and above will get HPV vaccines and COVID-19 will also be available, booster dose included.
The DMO said the campaign to mark Africa Vaccination Week will continue different vaccination centres located in nine health clinics of the district and appealed to Chief and community councils through the district to work hand in hand with Village Health Workers to maintain the Africa Vaccination Week campaign a success.
Africa Vaccination Week is marked annually on the last week of Africa.
