Maseru, Feb. 20 — The President of the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) Mr. Tlali Rampooana says it is high time that sports is treated as an industry to fight escalating poverty among the youth.
Speaking to the Agency ahead of the budget speech to be read by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning in the National Assembly in a joint sitting on Wednesday, Mr. Rampooana believe that investing in sports could create more job opportunities for the youth.
He said there are many youths who earn their living on sports alone, saying if something could apply to Lesotho, poverty could be a thing of the past.
Furthermore, he lamented lack of playing facilities in villages throughout the country, saying if the Finance Minister could increase the allocation to the Ministry of Sports, that could enable sports development in the country.
