MORE THAN 70,0OO SHEEP VACCINATED IN QUTHING

Quthing, Feb. 20 — More than  70,000  sheep have been vaccinated against sheep scab during the ongoing campaign in the district expected to be completed on Sunday this week.

In an interview with the Agency, the Chairperson of  Quthing District Wool and Mohair Growers Association (WMGA), Mr. Moabi Motlohi said the vaccination campaign that started mid last month is carried-out concurrently with dipping of goats that has reach more than 10,000 goats to protect them against scab that destroy wool and mohair quality.

Mr. Motlohi raise concern over low turnout of farmers at the vaccination centers as the dipped and vaccinated small stock graze together at the pastures with those undipped and the unvaccinated,  adding that they will easily transmit the sheep scab against each other since it is transmitted through contact.
