LEPHEMA SAYS PASSPORTS COULD REPLACE IDS

Maseru, May 20 – Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police Mr Lebona Lephema has quashed the motion on suspension of Section 9 of the National Identity (ID) Cards Act, 2011 in the National Assembly on Monday.

Mr Lephema said as a Minister responsible, he does not have powers to suspend the Section 9 of the National Identity Cards as the motion states.

However, he said in a case where ID has been expired, he could facilitate for the use of birth certificates, Drivers Licences or valid passports instead. . .
