LESOTHO ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IN NEED OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

Maseru, Aug. 11 — Supporting the creative and arts industry across the country is mentioned to be one of the sectors that the government of Lesotho should focus on improving towards youth development.

This was said by Mr. Sechaba Mokoqo aka ‘Sir Sechaba’ from the Lesotho Music Rights while explaining that the sector is currently receiving little support from the government.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency ‘Sir Sechaba’ stated that as per the National Strategic Development Plan II (NSDP II) which outlines the support and development of new innovations and creative ideas in the country, their wish as entertainers is to get support from the government as such can enable Lesotho’s creative and arts industry to be recognized across the globe.

He indicated that when such an industry is well developed, a lot of Basotho, especially the youth which is faced with a high rate of unemployment can create a lot of jobs even for others.
