HEALTH MINISTER URGES PUBLIC TO GET FLU VACCINE

Maseru, May 15 — The Minister of Health, Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane, has urged the public to get the flu vaccine, which is available at public clinics and hospitals. This appeal comes in response to numerous reported cases of flu with symptoms similar to COVID-19.

The Minister stated that their findings indicate the current prevalent flu strains are type A1 and A2. These strains are harmful to everyone but pose a higher risk to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children under five, people living with HIV/AIDS, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.

Mr. Mochoboroane also highlighted that, although they have not yet received formal reports, there are community deaths attributed to these flu types. Hence, he made a plea for the public to get vaccinated.
