TOURISM INDUSTRY RECEIVES M140.7 MILLION TO BOOST ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES

Maseru, Feb. 23 — In a bid to invigorate economic activities, the tourism sector has been allocated M140.7 million, recognizing its pivotal role in job creation and fostering cross-cultural exchange.

Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo, emphasized the need for enhancing Lesotho’s tourism industry to elevate its status as a significant contributor to the country’s economy.

He outlined plans to enhance tourist destinations to offer high-quality services, prioritizing safety and security for visitors to the country. Collaborating closely with the private sector, initiatives will be undertaken to attract more tourists, with a focus on rejuvenating places like Mohale and Semonkong.

Mr. Maqelepo highlighted the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation’s (LTDC) pivotal role in managing all tourism facilities under the Ministry, aiming for their effective operation while fostering job creation and sectoral improvement.
