Quthing, March.06 Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs), Technical Officers and Agricultural Assistants from six Agricultural Resource Centres in Quthing have completed a five-day training on the Lesotho Integrated Agricultural Management Information System (LIAMIS).

In an interview with the Agency, Assistant Economic Planner in the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Section, Mr. Refiloe Tae-Tae, said LIAMIS is a web-based, multi-module platform designed to digitise the agricultural sector.

Mr. Tae-Tae explained that the system will replace manual processes with a cost-effective digital approach aimed at improving productivity and enabling better monitoring of agricultural activities.

He noted that key features of LIAMIS include a national farmer registry containing verified digital data collected from village and resource centre levels, including GPS coordinates of homesteads and crop fields. He added that the system will also use geospatial mapping to enhance planning, targeting and efficient service delivery.

He further indicated that the platform incorporates an electronic voucher system for the distribution of agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilisers to farmers through agro-dealers…
