FARMERS URGED TO MOBILIZE LOCAL CHILDREN FOR VETERINARY STUDY

Quthing, August 31 — The Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Maphakamile Xingwana has appealed to farmers to mobilize children from village level to work harder in their studies to become Veterinary Doctors.

Officially closing a two-day Lesotho Wool and Mohair Growers Association (LNWMGA) AGM held at Quthing on Wednesday, Mrs.  Xingwana said lack of Veterinary Doctors in the county is a serious challenge as the country’s few Basotho Veterinary Doctors and the ministry is ready to support interested Basotho to get sponsorships to further their studies and become Veterinary Doctors.

She said the Ministry has subsidized yellow maize and fodder seeds for support of the farms in production of animal feed and livestock officers have been trained to produce nutritious animal feed to impart skills to the farmers to easily provide their livestock with nutritious animal feed.
