LESOTHO CAN BEAT FOOD INSECURITY-MATEKANE

Berea, Aug 12 — Prime Minister Mr. Samuel Matekane says the available arable land shows Lesotho’s potential to beat food insecurity.

Prime Minister made this remarks on Saturday during the harvest of maize at the block farming at Ha-Ramonaheng block farming pioneered by Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship Affairs, Home Affairs and Police Mr. Lebona Lephema with proportion of taking 70 percent of harvest while field’s owners take 30 percent of the produce.

Mr. Matekane said there is need to think about agriculture at a wide spectrum and increasing production even at district level by identifying crops suitable for each area as well as allowing trade and exchange of such yield among the districts or even to export to other countries. . .
