LESOTHO CELEBRATES PARLIAMENTARISM DAY

Maseru, June 30 — In celebration of International Day of Parliamentarism (IDP), youth from various sectors convened in the National Assembly today, Friday so as to have a feel of the house and its functions.

Welcoming these youth at the top of Mpilo Hill, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane said today marks the anniversary of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the annual celebration of IDP, thus commemorating the founding of IPU hence Lesotho is joining the world in commemorating this day.

He said in Lesotho, 48 percent of the population is youth, of which only 2.8 percent is representation of them in the house, thus bringing them together seeks to attract them and showcase that they as well are capable as future leaders….
