MAFSN TO CELEBRATE FOOD MONTH WITH FOCUS ON HUNGER ERADICATION

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 26 — The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition (MAFSN) District Nutrition Officer, Mrs. Lebohang Monyamane-Nthake, has invited Melele to participate in the upcoming Food Month celebration and Agricultural Market Day, set for August 29 in Ha Matlali.

The event will feature crops, vegetables, processing, and income-generating activities.

The theme for Food Month is “Breaking the Pots of Hunger from Poverty: Zero Granary.” In an interview with the Agency, Mrs. Monyamane-Nthake explained that the event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

“But we are still facing hunger due to several challenges, including climate change,” she said, noting that the Ministry employs climate-smart technologies in an attempt to combat climate change and ensure food production, albeit on a smaller scale. . .
