MODERN TECHNOLOGY CAN REDUCE MATERNAL MORTALITY – PIH

Maseru, Dec.08 — Partners In Health (PIH) Director of Nursing Mrs. Joalane ‘Mabathoana – Phaila says that it is possible to use modern technology such as Cardiography (CTG) machines at the primary health care and make a huge impact on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality.

She said this during the two-day Lesotho Nursing and Midwifery Conference held in Roma from Thursday.

Her presentation focused on the thematic area; policy making, advancing technology, innovation and rebranding nursing, midwifery and women’s health.

She said that the CTG machine is very critical in reducing the maternal and neonatal mortality therefore saying that there is need to invest in such machines.

She explained that CTG machines can be used during pregnancy to help monitor fatal heart rate. She added that the primary objective is to ensure the well-being of patients. . ..
