OVER 20 INMATES AWAITING TRIAL IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Maseru, Feb. 08 — At least 22 inmates are awaiting trial in the Correctional Institutions countrywide based on statistics released by the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) on Thursday.

Paralegal Chief Officer Bokang Ramotena told the Agency that the statistics have been recorded starting on January 29 to February 02 this year.

She said 58 of these inmates are men while only three are women.

She said there are nine inmates who are also awaiting trial on charges of sexual offences while seven others are facing house breaking offences.
